    The Puri Saren Royal Palace is the landmark of Ubud. Centrally located together with the Ubud Art Market across the road, the Royal Palace makes a great stopover during Ubud’s most common tour itineraries. In the evenings, the palace grounds hold nightly cultural performances with the most vivid gamelan orchestra and dancers in their most elaborate costumes.     CP Lounge is located halfway up from the Jalan Monkey Forest Road, and features a dining and entertainment complex owned and run by a royal Ubud family member, who also occasionally serves as the venue’s fun-spirited host. A small thatched-roof stage with live bands – who play almost anything – separates the spacious garden lounge and its bar that serves a great selection of martinis and cocktails. Its semi-open entertainment hall is reminiscent of a grand Balinese meeting pavilion and houses billiards and a makeshift dance floor. Be it outside under the stars or in a cosy subtly-lit corner, scenes and seating choices abound.     The Melting Pot Saloon is Bali’s own Western style saloon. Here you can challenge your friends at pool tables, electronic dart boards, ping pong tables, or at table football, and enjoy beers, pizzas and delicious Tex-Mex. A gathering spot for everyone from all over the globe, it has a full wall over the bar covered in flags of every nation where you can climb up a ladder and feel free to sign your name on. The owner also initiated Ubud’s annual Great Texas Chilli Cook-Offs where a large group of amateur and professional cooks in an open-air kitchen battle on its spacious front parking space, to present the best Texas style spicy chilli while pleasing the judges and the crowd with their flair.     Bar Luna is the sister venue of the famous Casa Luna restaurant enterprises, located in the basement of Casa Luna on Jalan Raya Ubud. Brainchild of the creator of the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, the Bar Luna Literary Club has become a gathering event and place for hipsters, featuring local and visiting authors from all over the world to its Tuesday and Thursday literary nights.
